Women Leading the Way in the Handyman Industry

In the traditionally male-dominated world of handyman services, women are increasingly making their mark, challenging stereotypes, and proving that skill knows no gender. From wielding power tools to mastering complex repairs, female handymen, or "handywomen," are breaking barriers and reshaping the industry landscape. In this blog post, we celebrate the contributions of women in the handyman field and explore what it means to tackle bias in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Good Company- a trailblazing business with a mission to redefine excellence in customer service and craftsmanship is set apart due to being a 60% woman-owned enterprise, boasting a remarkable lead Pro and owner, Charline, whose expertise in custom builds has garnered widespread acclaim. Her visionary approach exemplifies the ingenuity and skill that women bring to the forefront of the handyman industry.

Charline has 10+ years of experience in a range of trades, from crafting custom cornhole sets, installing new floor, to changing light fixtures- she can hold her own in the handyman world. She grew up watching and assisting her dad who was a plumber, and hopes to raise her children to be skilled craftsmen such as herself. "It is important to me for my daughter, as well as my son, to gain hands-on skills that can provide them with a sense of independence and confidence in dealing with the real world" Charline says. "I think the world has a different view of these hands-on skills and expectations for my son compared to my daughter, but I have a feeling she will be right there using power tools with me!"

Shattering Stereotypes: The Rise of Women Handymen

For decades, the handyman industry has been perceived as a male-dominated domain, where strength and ruggedness were prized above all else. However, as the landscape evolves, so too does the perception of who can excel in this field. Enter women handymen, a growing cohort of skilled professionals who are challenging stereotypes, breaking barriers, and reshaping the industry from within.

Tackling Bias: Navigating Challenges with Grace and Grit

Despite their undeniable talent and expertise, women handymen often find themselves navigating a landscape fraught with bias and skepticism. From assumptions about their abilities to subtle forms of discrimination, the road to success can be paved with obstacles. However, Charline and her team at Good Company refuse to be deterred by these challenges. Through their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to quality, they are forging a path forward, proving that skill knows no gender.

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion: Building a Better Tomorrow

In the quest for progress and innovation, diversity and inclusion are essential ingredients for success. By embracing individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and experiences, the handyman industry can tap into a rich tapestry of talent, creativity, and perspective. As we celebrate the achievements of women handymen like Charline and the team at Good Company, let us also redouble our efforts to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals, paving the way for a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
